My Change Catalyst:

William Shakespeare
Playwright | Poet | Actor

William Shakespeare had an enormous influence on English literature and drama. His intricate wordplay, complex characters, and multi-faceted understanding of human nature left a permanent mark on our world - not just on our stages, but in our minds, hearts, and souls. As a writer and change consultant at TSI, I am inspired by the way Shakespeare unites opposing ideas. Kings and fools, Capulets and Montagues, poetry and prose - Shakespeare marries seemingly disparate characters and concepts to find the common ground between them, which is key to my change and communications work.

  • Change communication is all about people turning strategy into story. Finding the right balance of technical information and human inspiration is a fun tightrope to walk.

    1. When you feed your brain the right input, you can trust that your instincts will lead you toward the right output.

    2. Big complexity is made up of little simplicities - if something feels overwhelming, all you have to do is take the next right step.

  • Favorite book: My go-to is always The Once and Future King by T.H. White. It’s a contemporary retelling of the entire King Arthur legend, from the sword in the stone all the way through Arthur’s death. This book has everything: psychologically rich characters, fascinating descriptions of life in medieval England, and a deeply moving exploration of Might vs. Right. It’s also really funny!

Favorite movie: My first impulse was Good Will Hunting. There’s something so charming about young Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, and Robin Williams is just incredible. I don’t think he gets enough credit for his dramatic roles.

Favorite TV show: at the moment, I still can’t get enough of Succession. It’s too Shakespearean to resist!

  • No one knows for sure how Orlando got its name, but some people think it might come from the character in Shakespeare’s As You Like It. In the play, Orlando falls in love with Rosalind - in our city, Rosalind Avenue runs through the heart of Orlando. It’s not the only explanation for why Orlando is Orlando, but it makes me smile when I think about it!

  • I’m also a professional actor! Click here for my resume, headshot, and video reels.
